CHP patrol car crash snarls 101 Freeway traffic near Carpinteria
Two vehicle accidents, including one involving a California Highway Patrol vehicle, brought rush-hour traffic to a standstill Thursday evening on the southbound 101 Freeway near Carpinteria.
The CHP officer was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, the agency said. His patrol car was involved in the accident with one other vehicle about 6 p.m. near Solimar Beach in Ventura County.
Three lanes of the busy freeway were shut down just as rush hour was underway. Before the CHP accident, another crash involving a big rig was reported in the same area, officials said.
No other injuries were reported. It was unclear how long the lanes would be closed.
