Burbank police investigate homicide near elementary school

Burbank police are investigating the shooting death of a man at an apartment complex across the street from an elementary school.

The shooting took place at a building at 758 E. Providencia Ave., across the street from Joaquin Miller Elementary School shortly before 11 p.m., police said.

Officers arrived on the scene after receiving numerous reports of shots fired and found a man lying on a porch. He was taken to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name was not immediately released.

Burbank homicide detectives are working leads in the case, but no one has been arrested and no motive in the shooting has been determined.
