Broken water main gushing water onto 101 Freeway in Cahuenga Pass

A broken Department of Water and Power line was gushing water onto the northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway in the Cahuenga Pass, snarling traffic, the California Highway Patrol reported.

DWP workers were on the scene seeking the exact location of the break, which was discovered about 2:30 a.m., and to make repairs, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.

The water had risen to 6 inches across the freeway near Cahuenga and Barham boulevards by 4 a.m., he said.
