Woman, eight months pregnant, arrested in van burglary
A Los Angeles man and a near-term pregnant woman were arrested early Tuesday after the man allegedly broke into a work van in Glendale and stole power tools, police said.
Ismael Gallegos, 36, and 20-year-old Erica Torres — who was described by police as eight months pregnant — were taken into custody on suspicion of burglarizing the van at about 1:10 a.m. in the 1300 block of East Broadway, according to Glendale police reports.
The pair were stopped when police noticed that Gallegos and his Chevy Impala matched the description of a burglary suspect, police said.
They told police they were dropping off a friend in the area, but they didn’t know the friend’s last name or address, according to police reports.
Torres, also of Los Angeles, was a passenger in the Impala and acting as lookout, police said.
