Vigilant resident praised for helping nab suspected burglars
Authorities in Santa Clarita are crediting a vigilant resident with helping to nab three men suspected of burglarizing a Valencia home this week, officials from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.
On Wednesday about 11:40 a.m., the unidentified resident called authorities after he spotted three men, one of whom was walking with a television, in the 24100 block of Del Monte Drive in the Valencia area, officials said. The resident told authorities he also saw at least one of the men on the balcony of his neighbor’s home, and he was able to give deputies a description of all three suspects, authorities said.
Deputies from the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station were able to locate the men, who were detained, authorities said. An investigation determined that the men were involved in the crime at the Valencia home, authorities said. They were arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.
Authorities lauded the resident who alerted them and stressed the importance of partnering with the community to prevent crimes.
“Together we will send a loud and clear message to those people who choose to commit criminal acts,” Santa Clarita sheriff’s officials said in a written statement. “Not in Santa Clarita!”
