Three shot, one fatally, in Inglewood; gunmen at large

One person was killed and two wounded when they were shot by gunmen who approached them on an Inglewood sidewalk late Friday, police said.

Vyron David Jackson, 22, a Hawthorne resident, died at the scene in the 600 block of West Hyde Park Boulevard, Inglewood police said. Two other men were taken to hospitals with injuries that are not considered life threatening, police said.

Police said witnesses told them the victims were walking east on Hyde Park Boulevard about 10 p.m. when armed men -– it was not immediately clear how many -– came up behind them. The gunmen opened fire and all three men were hit. A motive has not been determined.

Inglewood Police homicide investigators ask anyone with information about the shooting to call them at (310) 412-5246 or on the 24-hour anonymous tip line, (888) 41-CRIME (412-7463).
