Speeding driver trapped after crashing into utility pole

Driver trapped
A speeding driver was trapped under his car after he lost control and flipped several times in South Los Angeles, authorities said.

The crash happened in the 4900 block of South Normandie Avenue near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police say the man in his 20s lost control of his sports car and hit a median, causing him to veer into parked cars and a utility pole.

The car flipped several times before landing on its side, pinning his arm underneath.

Firefighters who responded used a hydraulic lift to clear the car and extract the driver, who was transported to a local hospital for medical care.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
