Girls struck by suspected drunk driver remain in critical condition

A 7-year-old girl and her 14-year-old sister remained in critical condition Saturday after being struck by a suspected drunk driver Friday evening in Glassell Park, authorities said.

The girls were in the crosswalk at the corner of North San Fernando Road and Hallett Avenue with another woman on Friday about 5:30 p.m. when all three were struck by a driver traveling west on San Fernando, Sgt. Clarence Perkins said.

The two girls were transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. The woman did not report any injuries. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. No other information was given.
