School volunteer in Arrowbear charged with molestation

A former kindergarten volunteer from Arrowbear in the San Bernardino Mountains has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 6-month-old girl, authorities said.

Carey Thomas, 23, was arrested after staff at Loma Linda Children's Hospital reported the girl's injuries on Thursday, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Corner's Department.

Thomas had been a volunteer at the now-closed Living Springs Christian School in Arrowbear, which is west of Big Bear lake.

He is charged with committing sex acts with a child 10 years old or younger and is being held on $500,000 bail, according to a sheriff's press release.
