Santa Ana police wound armed parolee, officials say
A parolee, allegedly armed and in a stolen car, was shot and wounded by Santa Ana police early Monday, the department reported.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight at 3005 S. Bristol St. when officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle, officials said.
"He was inside the vehicle. He stepped outside the vehicle. They saw that he was armed with a handgun. That's when an officer-involved shooting occurred," Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told KTLA.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was taken to UC Irvine Medical Center, where he was undergoing surgery.
A handgun was recovered at the scene, police said. The car had been reported stolen in Santa Ana.
