Two earthquakes -- magnitude 3.8 and 3.3 -- strike near Eureka
A pair of earthquakes rumbled near the tiny Northern California town of Rio Dell on Friday, measuring magnitude 3.8 and 3.3, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The first was reported at 11:19 a.m. PDT and measured 3.8. The epicenter was five miles from Rio Dell at a depth of 14.9 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A second earthquake, magnitude 3.3, was reported two minutes later, the USGS said.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was eight miles from Hydesville, 10 miles from Petrolia, 24 miles from Eureka and 194 miles from Sacramento.
In the past 10 days, there have been four earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
