Man wielding metal bar is shot by El Cajon police

An El Cajon police officer shot a man who charged at him with a metal bar in the middle of East Main Street on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The officer fired several rounds, hitting the man in the stomach, leg and hand. The man was taken to a local hospital.

The situation began when police responded to a call about a man chasing another man with a metal bar. When an officer arrived, the man charged at him, police said.
