Man dies after being shot in Compton

Homicide detectives were responding Wednesday night to a fatal shooting in Compton.

A man was shot in the 1300 block of North Willowbrook Avenue about 6:25 p.m Wednesday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim's name and age were not released. No additional details were immediately available.

Since January 2007, at least 169 homicides have been reported in Compton, according to The Times Homicide Report database. The vast majority of the victims died from gunshot wounds.
