Getty fire 90% contained, authorities say
Firefighters have nearly contained a brush fire that burned through more than 90 acres in the Sepulveda Pass, officials said.
As of Saturday night, the blaze was 90% contained, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
“We hope to have that fire fully contained and extinguished tomorrow,” he said, but did not specify a time on Sunday. “Obviously, the sooner the better.”
The fire, which started in heavy brush on the east side of the 405 Freeway near Getty Center Drive, snarled traffic and prompted a temporary closure of the museum on Friday.
No structures were damaged and more than 70 personnel were still assigned to the blaze as of Saturday night, Humphrey said.
