Police search for hit-and-run driver in fatal Hollywood crash

Los Angeles police are searching for the driver of a car that hit and killed a pedestrian in Hollywood early Monday, then fled on foot.

The incident took place on Western Avenue near Romaine Street, just south of Santa Monica Boulevard and a few blocks west of the Hollywood Freeway, shortly after 5 a.m., police said.

No further details were immediately available, but police were urging commuters to avoid the area as officers investigate the incident.
