Carmageddon II & The Monday Morning Commute [Video discussion]

September 30, 2012 |  5:26 pm

Work on the 405 Freeway progressed well Sunday -- Day Two of Carmageddon II -- but don't expect an early opening of the roadway.

L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced Sunday afternoon that the 405 Freeway will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday as scheduled.

Times Transportation Writer Ari Bloomekatz will discuss on the project is going and how it will impact your morning commute on a Google+ Hangout at 6 p.m.

The 405 Freeway was shut down between the 10 and 101 freeways this weekend so construction crews could demolish the remaining half of the Mulholland Bridge.

“We’re not done yet,” Villaraigosa said Sunday. “The freeway will not open until 5 a.m. in the morning.  Thank you, L.A. Once again the 10-mile closure of nation’s busiest highway was a resounding success.”
