Camp Pendleton fire burns 1,000 acres, is 30% contained
The brushfire at Camp Pendleton that was sparked during a training exercise Friday has now burned more than 1,000 acres and is 30% contained, Marine officials said early Saturday evening.
No structures are threatened and no injuries have been reported, officials said. The fire, in the northern reach of the sprawling base, will continue to send dark smoke into the sky, officials said.
