Brush fire threatens homes, Getty Center

Crews were responding Friday afternoon to a fast-moving brush fire along the 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass near the Getty Center.

At least two acres of heavy brush were involved on the east side of the freeway, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

The blaze and smoke were expected to further slow rush-hour traffic in the already congested corridor.

The fire is burning north of Sunset Boulevard and fire crews are just arriving.  Dozens of upscale homes are directly in the fire’s path, separated from the flames by a ravine. 

Getty officials have voluntarily closed and evacuated the museum complex.
