Air tanker ordered with San Diego County brush fire at 1,000 acres
A fast-moving brush fire has now burned 1,000 acres and destroyed three homes in San Diego County east of the community of Campo, the California Department of Forestry and Fire reported late Sunday afternoon.
The fire of unknown origin was reported shortly after noon near Highway 94. Evacuations have been ordered in the Tierra del Sol and Jewel Valley areas, with a shelter established at Mountain Empire High School.
An aerial tanker has been ordered to assist firefighters, officials said.
