Boyfriend to be charged with murder in Laguna Hills stabbing

The 25-year-old boyfriend of a woman founded stabbed to death Saturday in Laguna Hills will be returned to California and charged with murder, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.

Derek Pinski of Laguna Hills was arrested Sunday in Mesa, Ariz., and is being held on suspicion of killing Alexandra Tang, whose body was found Saturday, authorities said.

Paramedics were called to the Laguna Hills home shortly before noon Saturday, where they found a homeowner trying to resuscitate the 24-year-old woman, a Santa Barbara resident. The efforts failed, however, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said Pinski had been at the home, but declined to elaborate.

Authorities in Arizona had been alerted to be on the lookout for Pinski after developing leads that he might have fled to the Mesa area.

Pinski will be extradited back to California, and charged with murder, the sheriff’s department said.
