Black Mercedes leads LAPD on wild chase

A dangerous high-speed chase moved through the freeways of the L.A. area on Friday morning.

Los Angeles Police Department officers began the pursuit after seeing the driver of a black E-Class Mercedes driving recklessly at 10:25 a.m. at the corner of Ventura and Sepulveda boulevards in Sherman Oaks.

LAPD spokeswoman Sarah Faden said the pursuit went from the 101 Freeway to the 5 Freeway.

The Mercedes was observed doing "donuts" and U turns on residential streets in Downey.

The driver got out of the car with his hands in the air in a Downey neighborhood. A woman then emerged from a home and also put her hands up.

The driver was taken into custody at around 10:50 a.m.
