Divorced couple die in murder-suicide, authorities say

A 72-year-old man shot and killed his 52-year-old ex-wife Monday at her home in the Mid-Wilshire neighborhood of Los Angeles before fatally shooting himself, authorities said.

Los Angeles police officers were called about 2 a.m. to a residence in the 1000 block of South Lucerne Boulevard, Det. Gus Villanueva said.

They discovered the bodies inside the home as well as a note and a gun. The case is being investigated as a murder-suicide, Villanueva said.

The names of the gunman and the victim were not released pending notification of next of kin, said Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County coroner’s investigative division.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call LAPD’s West Bureau homicide detectives at (213) 382-9470.
