2-year-old boy rescued after allegedly being kidnapped by mother

Stacey Nicole PattersonRialto police Wednesday night rescued a 2-year-old boy who had been kidnapped earlier in the day by his mother and apprehended the woman.

Elijah Cardenas was allegedly abducted by Stacey Nicole Patterson during a supervised visit at a McDonald's in Rialto, prompting authorities to issue an Amber Alert.

Cardenas was found unharmed by officers, who apprehended Patterson, Capt. Randy De Anda of the Rialto Police Department Told The Times.

Patterson was supposed to visit Elijah and his 1-year-old sister, who were brought to the fast-food restaurant by the children's foster parents. Patterson does not have legal custody of the children because of a recent child-abuse investigation, police said.

She allegedly took off with Elijah with the help of a man identified by police as James Alan Krost. He was taken into custody Wednesday evening.
