16-year-old stabbed to death, suspect arrested in Garden Grove

GilA 16-year-old boy was stabbed and killed late Friday in Garden Grove by a 31-year-old man with whom he had an ongoing dispute, authorities said.

The man, Jose Gil, was riding his bike near his residence when a group of teenagers spotted him, got into a car and followed him to the 11600 block of Barclay Drive, Garden Grove police said in a statement.

A fight ensued about 11:30 p.m. over a previous disagreement, ending with Gil allegedly stabbing one of the teenagers. Both parties notified the police. Gil was arrested.

The victim, whose name was not provided, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead several hours later, police said.

Detectives will work with the Orange County district attorney to decide what charges will be filed against Gil.

The department declined to release any information about the juveniles involved.
