UFC fighter Ian Gregory McCall arrested by Laguna Beach police
Ian Gregory McCall, 28, was arrested in Irvine by Laguna Beach detectives, Capt. Jason Kravetz said in an email.
"They had been watching McCall as part of an ongoing investigation and decided to take him into custody on an outstanding warrant for his arrest," Kravetz said in the email.
Kravetz said he could not give detailed information because the case is active. The Drug Enforcement Administration was also present at the arrest, he said.
The Harbor Court warrants were for possession of narcotics paraphernalia, possession of prescription medication without a valid prescription and driving on a suspended license, he said. Bail was set at $16,500.
Separately, McCall pleaded not guilty Thursday to driving on a suspended license, according to court records. He has a pretrial hearing as well as two hearings for probation violations scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Central Justice Center, according to Orange County Superior Court spokeswoman Gwen Vieau.
McCall is on probation for two separate convictions. He was convicted of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and unauthorized possession of a hypodermic needle in March 2009 and for assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm in March 2010, according to court records.
According to UFC.com, McCall is known as "Uncle Creepy." His last fight was June 8, when he fought Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson and lost.
He is currently in custody in Central Men's Jail, according to jail records.
