Suicide suspected after body found in Brentwood parking garage

A man found Monday morning lying in a pool of blood in an underground parking garage in Brentwood appears to have committed suicide, police said.

Officers and paramedics responded to the garage in the 800 block of Gretna Green Way just before 7:30 a.m. after a 911 caller found the man lying next to a car, said Los Angeles police Officer Norma Eisenman. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It appeared the man had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, Eisenman said. Investigators initially treated the death as a possible homicide, but Eisenman said they later determined it was an apparent suicide.

Coroner's investigators had been called to the scene and would assist with the investigation, Eisenman said. No information about the man has been released.

The parking garage is located near the Brentwood Country Club and Brentwood Science Magnet Elementary School.
