Sheriff's deputy injured after crashing into church

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy has been injured in an early morning traffic accident in South Los Angeles, officials said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred about 6:15 a.m. at West 92nd Street and South Normandie Avenue while the deputy was enroute to a call, according to Deputy Guillermina Saldana, a Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.

The deputy, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Saldana said.

He crashed into the wall of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church.
