Waking the city: Just before sunrise Monday, Bobby Gibbons ran up to Griffith Observatory to capture this shot using a Canon EOS 5D Mark III.
"Surprising amount of people up roaming around at 5 a.m., but everyone, including the ranger, got out of the way. So that was awesome," Gibbons said.
