One man killed, another wounded in South Los Angeles shooting

Sheriff's investigators were searching Sunday for the gunman who killed one man and injured a second in a shooting that took place overnight in South Los Angeles.

Deputies responded at around 11 p.m. to the 100 block of West 140th Street, where two men had been hit by gunfire, said Deputy Pauline Panis of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital. One was pronounced dead; the second, who sustained a bullet wound in his upper body, was expected to live, Panis said.

Sheriff’s Department officials did not have any information on the suspect or suspects. The names of the two victims were not available.
