Man stabbed with hunting knife in Hollywood Boulevard fight

Stabbing
A man was in critical condition Wednesday morning after he was stabbed during a fight on Hollywood Boulevard, police said.

The man was walking west on Hollywood Boulevard near Wilcox Avenue with two acquaintances about 1:50 a.m. when the trio passed two others walking in the opposite direction, said Los Angeles police Lt. David Ferry.

"Somebody bumped into somebody else, words were exchanged and it culminated in a stabbing," Ferry said.

The suspect stabbed the victim in the abdomen with what is believed to be an 8- or 9-inch hunting knife, Ferry said. The suspect and the person he was with then ran off.

Neither the suspect nor the weapon have been found, Ferry said. The suspect is described as a man in his 40s, about 5-foot-8 with blond hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black leather jacket, black boots, black hat and jeans.

Hollywood Boulevard remained closed in the area about 6 a.m. as police continued their investigation. It was unclear when the road would reopen.
