O.C. man gets 30 years in bathroom rape of disabled woman
An Anaheim man charged with raping a woman with physical and mental disabilities in a college bathroom was sentenced Monday to 30 years in state prison.
Raul Barrientos, 23, was charged with leading the 19-year-old woman into a men's bathroom stall at Fullerton College and raping her, according to the Orange County district attorney's office.
The woman, who has the developmental level of a 6-year-old child and wears leg braces, takes special education classes at the college.
The victim was found inside the restroom by a teacher, according to prosecutors. Barrientos was tied to the incident, in part, because he had the victim's blood on his hands and clothes, the district attorney's office said in a statement.
The woman's parents "gave a victim impact statement to court and said that their daughter was devastated as a result of the attack and that, while she used to be trusting of others, she had lost that trust," the district attorney's office said.
