Man with gun killed after SWAT standoff in O.C.

A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting in this general area Monday in Placentia, police said.
A man was killed Monday afternoon in an officer-involved shooting after a SWAT standoff in Placentia.

The incident began in a neighborhood near North Bradford Avenue about 3 p.m. when officers from a multi-agency task force went to a home to contact a man regarding an investigation, police said.

The man, who had a no-bail warrant for a narcotics violation, allegedly drew a gun, according to police. Officers from the North Orange County Swat Team responded.

The shooting followed, police said, and the man was taken to the UC Irvine Medical Center. He was pronounced dead about 5:30 p.m.

Investigators were at the scene gathering evidence. No other details were immediately available.
