August 19, 2012 |  2:01 pm

A 19-year-old man was shot to death and an 11-year-old boy injured Sunday in a shooting at the Avalon Gardens housing project in South Los Angeles.

Three men approached the two victims in the 600 block of East Caliburn Drive about 12:45 a.m. and opened fire, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Cleon Joseph.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital. The man was pronounced dead and the 11-year-old boy was in stable condition, Joseph said.

The incident occurred roughly half an hour after two men, both of them 22 years old, were shot in another part of South Los Angeles, near 85th and Hoover streets. One man was hit in the hand, while the other was struck in the leg, said Lt. Manuel Martinez of the LAPD's 77th Division. The injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

The 85th Street shooting took place one hour after a man was killed at a wedding reception in yet another part of South Los Angeles. Police said the man, who was in his 40s, was shot to death in an alley behind the party.
