Long Beach woman found dead in car trunk near UC Irvine

Police on Thursday were investigating the death of a Long Beach woman whose body was found in Irvine in the trunk of her car.

Anna Oung, 29, did not return home from work Tuesday, prompting her husband to call police, said Irvine Police Lt. Julia Engen. Using a tracking device on her cellphone, the husband found her vehicle, which was parked near Beech Tree Lane north of University Drive, according to KTLA News. The station reported that Oung was an engineer who worked in the area.

Shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, police opened the trunk and discovered the body, which had sustained “serious" injuries, Engen said.

Investigators are not ruling out the possibility of suicide, she added.

"We’re treating it as a suspicious death, for the obvious reasons," Engen said.
