L.A. sheriff's deputy pleads no contest to sex with underage girl

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy has pleaded no contest in a case involving a sexual relationship with an underage teen, prosecutors said Friday.

Deputy Kenneth Alexander, 46, who was assigned to the Marina Del Rey station, pleaded no contest to one count of oral copulation with a person under the age of 18, Deputy Dist. Atty. Andrea Thompson said.

Alexander met the victim in 2010, when he responded to a call for an investigation at her home, authorities said. A relationship began soon after that meeting, when the young woman was 15, and continued for several months, they said.

Alexander, who remains free on his own recognizance, is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 29. He faces up to five years of formal probation, 60 days in county jail and one year of treatment as a sex offender.
