71-year-old man shot to death in Whittier

Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting in Whittier of a 71-year-old man.

The victim was identified as Joe Telles, a local resident, coroner’s officials said.

Little was known about the circumstances of the shooting, which occurred at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the 13900 block of Placid Drive, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Benjamin Grubb.

The shooting remains under investigation.
