Earthquake: 4.6 quake strikes northeast of Paso Robles

A shallow magnitude 4.6 earthquake was reported Monday morning five miles from Parkfield, Calif., about 30 miles northeast of Paso Robles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:35 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 6.8 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 16 miles from Coalinga, 17 miles from San Miguel, and 123 miles from San Jose City Hall.

In the past 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
