Earthquake: 3.5 quake strikes near Coso Junction

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Monday morning 17 miles from Coso Junction, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:03 a.m. Pacific time.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 20 miles from Searles Valley, 21 miles from Trona, 23 miles from Ridgecrest and 135 miles from the Los Angeles Civic Center.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
