DWP says power is being restored in Echo Park

August 21, 2012 |  9:23 pm

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said Tuesday night that it was restoring electricity to about 300 customers in Echo Park following a day of power outages in the neighborhood.

At one point, 1,400 people were without power, the utility said on its Twitter account.

An agency spokesperson said that problems with an underground cable apparently caused the outage. The utility said that power had been on and off throughout the day.
