Driver smashed truck into ATM in attempt to steal it, police say

Police believe the driver of a truck that smashed into an ATM in El Dorado County early Thursday morning was attempting to steal the machine -- and the money in it.

The pickup truck smashed into the Chase ATM outside a pharmacy on White Rock and Latrobe roads, according to Fox40 in Sacramento.

Police believe the truck is connected to the attempted robbery, Fox40 reported. It didn't appear that anything was taken from the ATM or the pharmacy, according to a man who was cleaning up the mess.
