Driver killed in Garden Grove crash

A 28-year-old man was killed after he crashed his vehicle into a cinder block wall in Garden Grove early Saturday morning, officials said.

Garden Grove Police Sgt. Craig McIver said "alcohol and speed" appear to have been factors in the crash.

The accident occurred just after 2 a.m. on Chapman Avenue. The driver's white Lexus struck a curb and then barreled into a tree and a cinder block wall, McIver said. The driver died, and a male passenger was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, he said.

McIver did not have the names of the victims. He said the driver was from Stanton.
