Driver speeds off after hitting Metro Expo Line train

Los Angeles Metro trains on the Expo Line near USC were delayed Thursday morning after a driver hit the right side of a train and sped off, officials said.

The 9:11 a.m. incident occurred as the train was southbound on Flower Street when an unidentified vehicle hit the right side of the train at 30th Street, said officials with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

As a result, the train was taken back to the 23rd Street Station for repairs. The Expo Line was expected to have a nine-minute delay between 30th and 22nd streets.

No information on the driver was immediately available.
