L.A. County sheriff's deputies involved in 2 shootings, one fatal

Authorities are investigating two unrelated shootings within about a half-hour involving Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies. One person was killed.

The first shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of North Santa Fe Avenue in Compton, sheriff's officials said. One man was treated at a hospital, they said.

Then just before 6 p.m. less than 10 miles away, a second officer-involved shooting occurred in the 21200 block of South Figueroa Avenue in Carson, officials said. The suspect in that incident later died at a hospital, officials said.

No deputies were injured in either shooting, officials said.

No other details were immediately available.
