Pico-Union shooting leaves one man dead, two wounded

Police were looking for a pair of gunmen who sprayed a Pico-Union sidewalk with bullets Saturday morning, leaving one man dead and two wounded.

The attack occurred shortly after midnight in the 1400 block of Alvarado Terrace, police said. The victims were not identified. The two wounded men suffered gunshots to their legs and were expected to survive.

Sgt. Michael Mabie said police suspect the shooters were gang members. Witness accounts and shell casings found at the scene indicate both assailants fired semiautomatic handguns, said Mabie of the LAPD’s Rampart Station.

Mabie said it was unclear whether any of the shooting victims were affiliated with a gang.
