An autopsy was pending Monday morning on a 1-year-old girl whose death was termed "suspicious" by authorities after she was found unresponsive in unincorporated South Los Angeles.

Sheriff's deputies and paramedics were called to the home, located in the 1300 block of West 105th Street in Westmont, about 12:45 p.m. Sunday on a report of a baby not breathing, said Lt. Holly Francisco of the sheriff's homicide bureau.

The girl, identified by the Los Angeles County coroner's office as Malaysia McElwee, was pronounced dead at the home, Francisco said.

Detectives are investigating the death and are waiting for the coroner's office to determine a cause of death, Francisco said.

No arrests have been made.
