L.A. County Supervisor Antonovich visiting North Korea

Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich is visiting North Korea this week to learn about the secretive country's customs and economy.

Antonovich went at the invitation of the Pacific Council on International Policy, a nonprofit group based in Los Angeles, said his spokesman, Tony Bell.

The trip is privately funded and no tax dollars are being used, Bell said. None of Antonovich's staff accompanied him on the trip.

It's unclear who Antonovich will meet during his trip to the communist country, but he is scheduled to return to Los Angeles on Saturday and will share his findings when he returns, Bell said.
