Approximate location of incident shown in red.

Two people were killed and others were trapped in cars in an accident on the eastbound 60 Freeway at the interchange of the 605.

The California Highway Patrol said that at least three lanes of the eastbound 60 were blocked and that traffic was backing up fast.

The transition from the southbound 605 to the eastbound 60 was also blocked.

Details of the crash were unavailable, but the CHP said two people were confirmed dead.

Officials are urging motorists to consider other routes because it could take hours to clear the scene.
