Overnight closures of 10 Freeway planned in San Gabriel Valley

August 13, 2012 |  3:58 pm

The 10 Freeway will shut down overnight in both directions this week through a stretch of the San Gabriel Valley as workers press ahead with a pavement repair project.

Construction crews are scheduled to close all westbound lanes of the 10 between the 605 Freeway in Baldwin Park and the 710 Freeway in Monterey Park on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 12:01 to 4 a.m. All eastbound lanes will be shut down from 1 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between Eastern Avenue in City Terrace and the 605 Freeway.

The closures have been going on since April as part of a project expected to cost $165 million, Caltrans officials said.

On-ramps and off-ramps will be closed at various times between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway between Peck Road in El Monte and Soto Street in Boyle Heights. On the eastbound 10 Freeway, on- and off-ramps will be off-limits between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on a stretch between Eastern Avenue in City Terrace and Santa Anita Avenue in El Monte.

Caltrans spokeswoman Kelly Markham said the closures will be staggered to ensure that drivers do not have to drive more than one ramp out of their way.
