Four killed in head-on crash in northeast San Diego County

Four people were killed in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon on a rural road in northeast San Diego County, the California Highway Patrol said.

Two adults and two children ages 8 and 9 were killed when a van and a passenger vehicle collided about 3:30 p.m. on California 78 between Ramona and Santa Ysabel. One of the adults was a 33-year-old woman.

Five other people were transported to local hospitals with critical injuries, the CHP said. No details about the cause of the crash were released.
