Ramona man arrested on suspicion of killing baby

A 19-year-old Ramona man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his girlfriend's 8-month-old daughter, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

David Humberto Ortiz was booked into county jail on one count of murder and one of assault on a child resulting in death. He was arrested late Monday and is not eligible for bail.

The child, Liliana Velasquez, was airlifted to the hospital Wednesday and pronounced dead Friday. Ortiz had been babysitting the child, according to sheriff's detectives.
